This week I was reminded how much the words that we utter really do affect those around us.
It takes one ten-second conversation to ruin or damage a relationship. And that's it. I guess this situation I was in last week really made me think about the things I say to people. How many times a day do I go chipping away at the relationships I've built with my co-workers and students, not to mention my family, with my sarcasm, anger, or unwillingness to just have a simple conversation? Probably hundreds.
I need to stop and think about what I say before I say it. Shutting up is one of the best things I can do. I think at work, I just need to shut up and stay in my room. I'm excited for tomorrow, though. We are having our town's K-9 officer come in to visit our kids. It will be so fun!
I hear ya with this one Marcie! I do that at times too, more in my online responses though, sometimes in my real life as well. Like I'm quick to respond with a knee jerk reaction instead of tempering my words the way I normally do. Sometimes some people bring out the worse in others, and I was falling into that trap. Hope all goes well at school@
